Why Do We Keep Hiding Behind Our False Perceptions?
The time has come to remove the curtains that cloud our behavior

We all have our way of seeing, handling, and solving every situation we face in life. It all depends on our perception of how we see the world.
And to support what I’m going to tell you (based on my way of seeing it), most of our everyday decisions are based on the intentions behind the curtains — our subconscious mind.
Depending on our circumstances, we will automatically support all that is happening to us as if we have everything under control. Nothing is wrong — even if the roof is falling on us.
“No one wants to admit that they have ever failed in life so as not to pass for a fool.”
It’s an entirely wrong mindset because at the end of the day, whether you want to accept it or not, we all need each other. As they say in my country, “we need a hand to clean the other.”
Who does not make mistakes? We are human, and we all do. Don’t tell me that from the first try, when you figured standing on two feet, you instantly started walking — we all fell on our b*tts many times.
Our parents helped us take our first steps. They picked us up every time we fell the first few times.
However, throughout our lives, we shake our hands as a sign that we don’t need any help. That alone, we can figure everything out. That mindset is only going to lead us to disappointment.
And this is where social media comes into play.
We’re all trying to look good behind the curtains of social media, even though (as I said before) the roof could be falling on us. We are always looking for everybody’s approval — and it’s addictive.
I am now adding my personal experience.
That’s why for many of us, it takes a long time to get out of trouble when we try to figure out life by ourselves. We can avoid many failures only if we try to be humble and ask for help.
When I speak of avoiding failure, I mean the cases of many people who do not want to leave their virtual world believing it’s reality — they die in the matrix.
Unfortunately for my benefit, I had to experience going to the brink of death from alcoholism, all because I failed to seek help on time.
And I say my benefit because if I had not hit the wall, I would have never realized I was going without brakes in a dead end.
I restored my sanity and obtained sobriety until I took my first steps to seek help. Now that I see life with clarity, my heart boils for helping others who are going through the same situation that I went through.
And as I said in the beginning, we all see life, not only from our point of view but also as it suits us best—So as not to pass for fools or irresponsibles.
The other day, I walked by the places where I succumbed to alcohol and drugs. I found an old comrade from the street — a beautiful opportunity to give someone good advice. I observed how that lifestyle was already taking a toll on his sanity: dirt-covered nails, messy hair, and dirty shoes.
I sat for a while to talk to him. Instantly I began to feel his rejection of my words. He looked at me smiling as if wanting to pretend — you are fine, and so am I.
It was incredible to hear how failure in life was like a fantastic voyage for him, maybe for now, and for me, it was too at some point in time. But now that I had taken off my virtual glasses, I could see the harsh reality of defeat. And to make matters worse, my friend showed no intention of seeking help — just like I did.
In the end, I had to leave because his conversations did not give me the guideline to remove the virtual glasses that would allow him to realize the harsh reality of his situation.
The saddest thing about the encounter is that I understood; my friend was enslaved to that rhythm of life and defended it — even with dirty nails.
We can avoid many calamities and failures in life. A humble heart is the only requirement to receive help and advice.
Now, ask yourself these questions if you want. If you answer them with or without honesty, I will not care. I might even never know you.
The only one who knows you better than anyone — is yourself.
Am I stubborn in not wanting to accept that my life is degrading somehow?
My answer: It happens to all of us more than once in our lifetimes. We need to focus on what we could be doing wrong and find ways to fix it.
Am I avoiding seeking help because I don’t want to look vulnerable?
Remember that the left hand is needed to wash the other. The first step in changing something wrong within us is accepting it and seeking help.
I want to leave you with this reflection;
“Don’t try to hide behind your illusionary lenses believing that everything is fine.
Knowing that something could be wrong and not doing anything about it — can lead you to live life the wrong way, and at the end, full of regrets.”
I read a bible verse that said:
“Knowing what is good and not doing it is already a sin.”
Those words hit me in the heart.
