How is the writing of my new book going?
The process is more delicate and strict than I thought.
First, the process is exciting and fun, especially when everything starts to take shape.
If you don’t think you will find the exciting side in writing a book, I tell you that you will soon get bored or frustrated because there must be an immense passion inside you that can drive you daily.
I’ll tell you the first lesson I learned.
The book changes as it progresses.
I started with a firm idea, but when I began to structure the chapters, I looked at my writing from the reader’s point of view and consistently moved things around to obtain fluidity and continuity of order.
So, when the pages began to grow, I began to understand the structure of a book, its first pages, and the importance of the introduction to attract the reader’s attention.
As I moved through the chapters, I got carried away by new ideas I got away from the desk.
Please write down your ideas.
It is a matter of analyzing what should or should not be adhered to or removed. I use common sense and study what is appropriate or not to be part of the project.
This collection of ideas brings me to the second lesson I learned while writing my book.
I collect too many ideas in my head.
Let me tell you that, at times, my imposter syndrome went away as I watched my book take shape. But that plunged me into a stagnation of ideas worth considering for the book.
But it could be my imagination or inspiration; the ideas were sometimes not what they seemed, nothing more than delays.
I needed a sensitive sense of what is worth it and what is not.
Especially in the first book, I have no pre-existing experience to draw on, and I often have to listen to my gut.
When you get excited about an idea, put it aside and see if you feel the same again when you return.
I will share one of my most significant setbacks when finding deep concentration.
Canceling distractions of everyday life.
Finding a place full of peace and calm is essential for concentrating and making the most of my writing sessions. This situation made me talk deeply with my love partner about needing time and space for my daily writing.
It was difficult, and not even noise canceling my AirPods could eliminate distractions.
It would be best to tell my partner and neighbors that I am working when writing and don’t want anyone to bother me unless it is an emergency.
It might sound harsh, but remember that “no pen means no gain for me.”
And now, I want to share the good news of writing my book.
Writing my book is a dream that is coming true.
There is an inexplicable satisfaction when a book takes shape.
I felt like a builder of a building with several floors, each floor a chapter, and each room a page filled with all the furniture I can imagine, including the people who are my characters.
The buildings are planned just like the structure of my book, and the materials must be considered in advance so that the foundation is solid.
What else can I try to explain how I feel?
I enjoy that I am the builder of something that does not exist and that, little by little, is coming into existence.
Please don’t stop as soon as you start with an idea for a book. The world waits for your book to tell us what you have in mind, whether to edify, instruct, or spark our imagination.
Leave your mark on this earth.
Thanks for reading.
I have decided to call my book “FINDING NEW LIFE Out Of The Methadone Mile.”
As you can imagine, my book is about homelessness in Boston. I intertwine my story with the current situation and give it a tangible testimony of total recovery.
I would love to hear your opinion in the comments.
I have an incredible story of overcoming, and I want to share it with the world so that they know what it feels like to experience homelessness and inspire those who are going through it.
We are still in time to redirect our path as humanity.
