Don't Let Life Take You by Surprise Just Like The Recent Arctic Blast
Life gives clues about what could happen to you.
Friday night, I almost had a finger's frostbite.
Just as you noticed, we got hit by an arctic blast (in the US) that, at this time, I can't imagine the damage it caused to everyone it caught off guard.
People talked about it. The news predicted it, but we live as if nothing could happen to us, ignoring the reality of our vulnerability as humans.
My wife repeatedly warned me to go to work well-prepared for what was about to happen, but even so, I was very confident and believed it would not be so brutal—how wrong I was.
Since I began to see customers arrive at the store frightened and paralyzed from the intense cold, I began to feel worried about the severity of the situation. The problem came when I had to close the store, and the gate did not want to go down.
After only three minutes of struggling with the gate, my body was already stiff, and my hands were freezing. I got frustrated and had to run to get help from a coworker who lives very close. If it hadn't been for his help, I might not have had the fingers to write this article today.
Recognizing clues on the path of life
When the meteorologist warns you, it is a prominent warning.
When a friend hints at it: it's a tip that you may have blind spots.
And if your wife shares it with you: it's because she doesn't want to lose you.
Life has many twists, and learning to recognize traffic signs can give you an advantage over others or even save your life.
Many people warned me: Carlos, the pace of life you are living is very dangerous. One of these days, my friends told me, you could not reverse.
Every day I drowned deeper in alcoholism.
I had to lose everything and find myself in a desperate situation (homeless) to take action, and how hard, painful, and difficult it was to get out of that situation.
So, why live only to resolve the consequences of our decisions and way of living?
The answer lies within our being; we have to be honest.
We want to put our hands near the burner because it tickles, but in the end, it burns.
Our body reacts deliciously (dopamine) to many pleasures, but as the saying goes, nothing with excess, everything with measure. But many times we want to make the party eternal.
Takeaway
Let's not live like fools who only spend their time-solving problems but rather like the wise man who avoids them.
Let's live prepared for the unexpected and never be overconfident. You never know what tomorrow will bring you—especially New England weather.
I know this article sounds a bit proverbial, but if it weren't for my friend's help, I might not have had the fingers to write anything this morning.
Have a nice day, and let’s live as a wise men.
